The Samsung d’light Experience

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to be invited to tour the beautiful city of Seoul with Samsung, which chose me to be a jury member of their WOW Traveller photo competition, and so the Korean electronic giant showed us what the city has to offer through, from history to technology, to traditions and amusement. When you’re in Seoul you can’t help but fall in love with the city and the people, things are very organized there, life is easy and people are very nice and warm, I loved their architecture and typography, the building and sign boards were really beautiful.

One of the impressive things about South Korea is that technology is a culture, or at least that’s how I felt, supermarkets and tiny shops sell smartphones along grocery, vending machines are very smart and interactive, and museums are equipped with latest displays and technologies to add more excitement to your experience.

We started the first day of the tour with a visit to the Samsung Town in Seoul, where we met Samsung’s team along with local bloggers and representatives from Samsung’s ad agency Cheil, warm coffee was served with a warm welcome from our Korean hosts prior to the tour in the d’light shot, a true delightful experience and a playground for tech lovers!

The Samsung d’light shop is a 3-storey center where you can stroll down memory lane and explore Samsung’s history while experiencing latest innovations and future vision of the company, and of course to complete the experience you can actually purchase products. My favorite parts of the d’light shop were the LED Lighting Drums, the Smart Window and the Smart Fridge.

The first time I saw a video of the smart window on YouTube I thought it was very far fetched but I got to use while I’m at the d’light shop and apparently Samsung has already started producing these windows and couple of contracts were already signed, watch this video:

The LED Lighting Drums experience was so awesome, touch the wall and thing will change, of course no video can capture the beauty of this experiment but you can watch here, and maybe if you’re in Seoul go experience it yourself.

This is a very amazing fridge, as you’ll see in the video is interactive and smart, you can explorer the stuff inside it.

Here is another example of how South Korea is so advanced when it comes to technology, I came across this vending machine in a museum, it displays video ads, shows more details about the products inside, such an amazing interface for a vending machine!
