Umniah supports the Jordan Gaming Task Force's activities
As part of its long-term partnership with the Jordan Gaming Task Force, which strives to advance Jordan’s gaming industry through supporting and marketing local programmers and producers of electronic and digital games, Umniah sponsored the ‘Gaming & Mobile App Edition’ Startup Camp.
Held in Irbid at the Career Development Center of Al-Huson University College, the Camp was organized by the Jordan Gaming Task Force, funded by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development in collaboration with the USAID in Jordan, and cosponsored by Microsoft.
Based on its interest in backing the Jordan Gaming Task Force’s various activities towards aligning education and innovation with the needs of the telecom and IT industry, Umniah is supporting Jordanian students’ entrepreneurial ideas by transforming them into tangible products to promote the improvement of content creation and mobile applications.
As part of its sponsorship, Umniah provided the three-day event with Umax Internet, and delivered a number of presentations on effective marketing tools, local market trends, its experience as a mobile operator in Jordan, and its expectations regarding the future of content creation and mobile applications. Umniah also offered guidance and suggestions on the projects proposed by the participating students.
A total of 183 experts, company representatives, students, and creators of electronic games and mobile applications participated in the Camp, which provided participants with the necessary knowledge and expertise to launch successful startups and ensure their sustainability. At the conclusion of the Camp’s activities, Umniah adopted five innovative ideas proposed by participants.
After a panel of judges that included Karim Al Zou’bi, VAS & Data Manager of Umniah, assessed the participants’ experiments, three Jordanian teams won cash prizes as well as the opportunity to attend a series of highly specialized training courses.
The range of projects backed by Umniah reflects its interest in supporting education, youth, technology, culture, and entrepreneurship. The Company adopted an English educational children’s touch-screen game in line with its contributions towards education initiatives, as well as the ‘Allamt Alaik’ Facebook social media project to encourage greater integration between Web and mobile applications.
Umniah also extended its assistance to the URababa Hero project, a musical game created by Jubilee School students, in line with its aim to support distinguished and talented primary school students; the Belong project, an interactive mobile game; and the Seeniyeh project, a mobile application replicating a traditional game that hones creativity and accomplishment.
Umniah also provided individual support to each of its adopted entrepreneurs and assisted them in marketing their products and reaching their potential customers to ensure high revenues as their business partner.
Al Zou’bi thanked the Jordan Gaming Task Force for organizing the event, expressing pleasure at their ongoing partnership and affirming Umniah’s support of male and female entrepreneurs and creative individuals, particularly Jordanian women.
“We are delighted to see that our youth are contributing to the creation of a better lifestyle and are driving social development,” he said while congratulating the winning students and wishing them continued success.
