Amsterdam, 19 December 2012 – In June 2012, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam again selected 6 young creatives to take part in the agency’s 6-month apprenticeship program, The Kennedys.
Thomas Payne: A graphic designer from London into type, layout and identities.
Ben Sandler: An Israeli-American image-maker and producer, hailing from Paris.
Cara To: Belgian/HongKong 3D artist/illustrator, whose goal is to make visuals you haven’t seen before.
Ella de Weijer and Jess Hall: A creative team best described as ‘idea generators’, who have travelled extensively, working in NY and London.
Jordi Luna: A jack-of-all-trades, a creative art director who loves utopian ideas.
What started as a creative experiment in 2011 now sees the Kennedys operating as an autonomous advertising agency within W+K Amsterdam. The Kennedys Year II have created and produced real work for both local and global clients such as Nike Tennis, Nuit Blanche, Geomag, Miioon, Too-Short and Dream Amsterdam. The six dedicated minds were also creatively challenged with the agency’s Christmas card, where they managed to get the entire agency to ride Santa’s lap for charity in the now infamous Mother Bucker challenge.
This year W+K Amsterdam will hire 2 of the 6 students as full time employees, proving again its worth as training ground for potential hires.
Executive Creative Director, Eric Quennoy, said “All 6 Kennedys came to us with their own very unique skill set, but it was amazing to see how they came together to form one crack unit. In the time they were here they made an incredible body of work across a range of media, for vastly different types of clients. Honestly, as much as we are here to try and inspire them, they add so much energy, passion and talent to this agency that we can’t help but be inspired by them.”
The Kennedys’ father, Judd Caraway, said, “Once again our office was greatly impressed and inspired by the creativity and scope of work The Kennedys did in a relatively short amount of time. This group brought a little bit of awesomeness to every project they touched and we couldn’t be more proud of them. We all learned a lot but we also had a lot of fun doing it which makes it even more rewarding.”
Recent graduate and hire, Jordi Luna, reflects on his W+K experience, “The 3rd floor of W+K Amsterdam has become a playground where the magic happens. Long live The Kennedys!”
Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam look forward to launching The Kennedys III at the beginning of 2013. Recruitment details will be available at http://www.thekennedys.nl
