Sony Mobile and 007 Continue Longstanding Relationship in Latest Release ‘Skyfall’

Dubai-UAE: 01 October 2012 – Sony Mobile has announced the celebration of the launch of this year’s most anticipated cinema releases, Skyfall, the 23rd outing of Ian Fleming’s iconic British spy James Bond. The movie, which will be on screens on 25 October, awards Xperia ion with the title ‘handsets trusted by Bond’.

The movie will see James Bond using an Xperia smartphone from Sony for the first time, although a number of Sony handsets have appeared in earlier Bond movies. Sony is a licensed partner of Skyfall and the Xperia ion is already available worldwide to coincide with the film’s release.

Spyridon Gousetis, Director of Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications, Middle East and Africa, said: “We share a longstanding and strong synergy with the James Bond brand. Bond’s massive appeal has always provided Sony with a wonderful platform to reach out to global audiences. Sony smartphones are consistent with the artistic direction of the James Bond films, they are a perfect partnership.”

Sony Mobile, formerly known as Sony Ericsson first partnered with Bond in 2002 for ‘Die another Day’ starring Pierce Brosnan, when the T68i and P800 were positioned in the film. Since then, Sony Ericsson phones have featured in all Bond films, with the K800i and M600i making their debut in ‘Casino Royale’, and a limited edition of the C902 retailed to mark the release of ‘Quantum of Solace’.

The new ‘trusted by Bond’ phone feature stylish design, state-of-the-art specs, easy connectivity and access to premium entertainment experiences – everything users would expect from Sony smartphones.

Xperia ion delivers a stunning viewing experience with a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor for faster performance and 12MP HD camera with Fast Capture allowing users to shoot pictures in just above one second from standby mode. The smartphone also integrates easy HDMI connectivity for one touch sharing with DLNA, and is near field communication (NFC) enabled.
