Al Jazeera Children’s Channel’s Holy Quran Recitation Contest

“Tijan Al Noor” opens door for submission

Doha, 25 September 2012 – Young reciters of the Holy Quran all around the world can now submit their entries to the 2013 edition of Tijan Al Noor”, the widely-acclaimed yearly Holy Quran Recitation Contest organized by Al Jazeera Children’s channel (JCC).

Held in Ramadan, “Tijan Al Noor” hosts children aged 9-13 years from around the world, and honors outstanding performers. The Pan-Arab children’s channel of choice for many Arab children and families said young reciters can upload their recitations on its website (www.jcc-quran-competition.tv).

According to JCC, the deadline for receiving entries is end of January 2013, and the contest episodes will be aired in the coming month of Ramadan.

The contest aims to communicate and instill supreme values in children, while promoting the correct use of classical Arabic and encouraging children to study, and recite the Holy Quran.

A panel comprising of prominent clerics and scholars specialized in Quran studies and readings will evaluate reciters based on knowledge of intonation rules, quality of sound and performance, and recitation modulation. The assessment will determine the contestants who will qualify for the next stages of the competition.

“Tijan Al Noor” has achieved remarkable success in the past years and attracted participants from various countries around the world, thus becoming one of the most important Quran recitations competitions in the world.
