Did you know that UAE is one of highest countries in the world in terms on energy consumption per person, more than USA and UK! According to the Heroes of the UAE campaign, if every individual on earth consumed the same as residents of the UAE, we would need the resources of 5 planet earths!

Heroes of the UAE is an innovative initiative that aims to raise awareness of resources drain in the UAE, and to educate country residents on how to consume energy and water at sustainable level. The campaign presents interesting facts about water and energy consumption in the UAE, and tools to figure out the the effect of consumption on the environment.

A one bedroom apartment with some appliances and a 20-degree air conditioning could produce 9.2 tonnes of CO2 every year, and if everybody lived this way, we will need 1.4 of the current resources we currently have on the planet, what can you do? Here are some facts about water found on campaign’s website:
It takes 1,000 litres of water to produce one litre of milk (the whole process)
4,500 litres of water for one steak (300g) of beef, 1,170 litres of water for same amount of chicken
185 litres of water for one bag (200g) of potato crisps
840 litres of water for one pot (750ml) of coffee, 90 litres of water for 750ml of tea
