Dubai, UAE; December 4, 2012: The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Xpoze, the Idea Factory run by Emirati women, in collaboration with Dubai Properties Group (DPG), have revealed plans to transform The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence under the ‘Dubai Outdoor Art Project.’
Held under the theme ‘The City is Your Canvas,’ the ‘Dubai Outdoor Art Project’ will be led by an array of Emirati and UAE-based artists, presenting an open air display of the evolution of urban art expressionism in the city.
Under the fourth ‘Dubai Outdoor Art Project,’ artists can explore the various facets of art – from visual to multimedia and installations – allowing them to discover and maximise their creative potential.
Khalil Abdulwahid, Manager of Visual Arts, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “The outdoor art scene has witnessed significant transformation over the last few years, with artists using more than just the canvas to explore their creativity. Through the fourth ‘Outdoor Art Project,’ we aim to emphasise a grassroots movement in the visual arts landscape, by highlighting our home-grown talent, and strengthening community involvement in Dubai’s art scene.”
Amal Almarri, co-founder of Xpoze, said: “We usually see art in galleries and in-door locations, were art is mostly seen as a luxury and presented to an exclusive and selected audience. By creating this public art platform at The Walk, we are making art more accessible to the public, therefore young artists and merging designers will get the chance to be exposed and seen to a wider audience range. In that together we will create a dynamic culture that reflects the identity and creativity of the individuals within our community.”
Sahar Al Ansari, Director of Real Estate Management at DPG, commented on the initiative: “As one of the leading tourist destinations in Dubai, The Walk at JBR provides a great venue to host such an event. We are delighted to be partnering, yet again, with Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, as well as Xpose for a project that will surely appeal to many of The Walk’s visitors and encourage home grown artists.”
The ‘Outdoor Art Project’ is open to all UAE residents – individuals or teams. Interested artists can visit www.dubaiculture.ae for more details or to download the applications forms. Applicants must submit their artwork proposals by December 11, 2012 to [email protected] [email protected]. Interested applicants can join the scheduled site visits during the ‘Open Call’ to understand the spaces available for them to work with. The submissions for the project will be evaluated and shortlisted by a Selection Committee chaired by representatives of Dubai Culture and Xpoze.
The fourth outdoor art project launched by Dubai Culture follows the success of the 12 artworks unveiled at DPG’s Bay Avenue, an upcoming retail destination at Executive Towers in Business Bay, as well as the collaboration with the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), to beautify the streets of Dubai.
Dubai Culture is committed to driving the Emirate’s development as an influential driver of culture and the arts in the region, by building a strong creative environment, nurturing and developing talents as well as strengthening artistic community engagement, through its expanded arts services.

About Xpoze:
Xpoze is not a typical advertising agency. It is an xponentially xciting factory of ideas for brands that not only want to be introduced or re-introduced to the public, but also strive to be remembered. We are revolutionizing the conventional advertising agency model. Why? Because it’s dated and no longer in tune with the dynamic culture we are a part of or the evolving needs of today’s businesses. At Xpoze we listen, we have our finger on the pulse of what the public wants, because we get the public involved.
Xpoze follows a 360° approach, creating a brand experience that encompasses all the possible contact points between the brand and the consumer. We do this by enlisting the minds of a pool of multi-creative talents, who work with us on creating cutting edge ideas that respond to a business’s problem.
Xpoze’s 21st century approach is not for the faint-hearted or the weak-willed. We thrive on making the impossible possible, implementing our ideas, realizing them and debuting them to the world. We are here to test the limits and the limits of the industry, because it is a sure-fire way to get people excited and buzzing about a brand. The question isn’t whether we are ready to step into the future, but whether you are ready to join us?
