Dubai Press Club Hosts Workshop to Select Candidates under ‘Youth Take the Stage’ Competition

Students Showcase Talents to Gain Place with Experts and Media Professionals at Arab Media Forum 2012

Dubai-UAE: 10 March, 2012 – Dubai Press Club (DPC), part of the Media Office of the Government of Dubai, recently hosted a workshop to choose candidates under the ‘Youth Take the Stage’ competition, a first-of-its-kind initiative to discover and nurture local talent in the media industry.

Media students from various universities participated in the competition that will shortlist the finalists. The winners will gain an opportunity to present ideas along with media professionals and experts at Arab Media Forum 2012. The annual event that gathers media personalities from across the world will be held from 8–9 May under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

‘Youth Take the Stage’, offers media students from the UAE universities an opportunity to participate in shaping debate during the 11th annual Arab Media Forum.

Dubai Press Club team delivered a presentation during the workshop, highlighting the key challenges that will be focused at the Arab Media Forum 2012. She also offered her insights on examining these issues with a 360-degree perspective.

Maryam bin Fahad, Executive Director of Dubai Press Club, said: “We have noticed surprisingly striking similarities in the key challenges that each of the applicants discussed, even though the participants represent various universities. We believe such diversities and similarities of the students will bring forth interesting and exciting perspectives to fascinate the audience during the AMF 2012 workshop.”

The names of the candidates selected to participate in the AMF 2012 will be announced shortly, in addition to the names and schedule of the forum speakers and participants. Registration to the forum can be made through www.arabmediaforum.ae

The 10th edition of the Arab Media Forum held from 17-18 May, 2011, attracted more than 2,800 participants including media professionals, decision makers, researchers, academics and media students. Additionally, over 23,000 people tuned in to the forum via direct broadcast technology on the Internet. A total of 40 different nationalities from around the Arab region and the world participated in the event.
