Amsterdam, 22 February 2011- EYE, the new film museum in Amsterdam, has worked with advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam since 2009 and recently collaborated with the agency’s in house apprenticeship program, The Kennedys, to promote the opening of their new location.
In March 2012 EYE will move from its traditional location in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark to its new home on the river IJ. It is the first major art institution to make the leap over the IJ to the north shore. The new location features four modern cinemas, a 1200 m2 exhibition space, educational facilities, offices, the Basement which includes the digitized EYE collection and a restaurant-café. In the summer, the sunny terrace offers a great view over the water.

To celebrate this move and the opening of the new building, EYE has invited film lovers to submit a 20-second short film, an EYE-dent, furthering the organization’s intention to be a gateway to the world of moving images. EYE will select a number of videos to present on their website. These selected contributions will also be awarded with 10 free screenings and included in the renowned collection of EYE.
To upload your film, please visit http://eyefilm.nl/eyedents/. For further questions or technical difficulties during the upload process, contact EYE support at [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 15 March 2012.

About the EYE, the new film museum in Amsterdam
EYE is the heart of film in the Netherlands. EYE is for everyone who loves film, whether local or tourist, student or professional, young or old. On April 2012, EYE opens its new venue on the banks of the River IJ directly across from Amsterdam Central Station. EYE aims to stimulate film culture in the Netherlands in various ways. Film can be seen as art, entertainment, cultural heritage and communication method. Each month features a full calendar of events such as exhibitions, screenings of classics, children’s films and new productions by today’s international filmmakers, open-air performances, festivals, retrospectives, debates and events highlighting film history and contemporary cinematographic developments. The starting point for every event is EYE’s own rich collection. EYE manages an internationally celebrated collection of approximately 40,000 films covering the full range of film history: from silent films to the newest digital productions, from Russian avant-garde to American mainstream, from vintage Hollywood classics to the latest films from young Asian talent. EYE is the only institute in the Netherlands with a collection of film-related memorabilia and equipment; it includes film posters, photographs, paper archives from filmmakers and historic film equipment. EYE is known for its knowledge and expertise in the areas of film restoration and research and promotes Dutch film internationally. Cinema’s past, present and future converge at EYE, a window on the world of film.
