Famous Arabic fusion guitarist to lead free workshop and jam session at Virgin Megastore, Mall of the Emirates, June 7th, 7-9pm
Dubai – June 3rd, 2012: Virgin Megastore proudly presents a free evening with one of the most talented guitarists in the Arab world, Kamal Musallam. Learn from him, jam with him and be inspired by him at Virgin Megastore, Mall of the Emirates on Thursday, June 7th, 7-9pm.
The workshop and jam session will commemorate the launch of Kamal’s brand new Ibanez signature guitars KMM1 and KMA1 available at Virgin Megastore. The KMM1 and KMA1 are the first branded guitars worldwide featuring Arabic quarter tones.
The KMM1 is an innovative electric guitar with a neck that has additional frets inserted at specific positions focusing on Arabic music scales, allowing you to play quarter tones without bending the strings. Equipped with Ibanez True-Duo Bucker for phenomenal sound, this guitar makes it possible to play Western music while adding influences from Arabic tunes, stimulating and inspiring a melodic flow of creativity. The KMM1 retails for 2199 AED at Virgin Megastore.
The KMA1 is a one-of-a-kind, nylon-stringed acoustic fretless guitar inspired by the oud. With its beautiful natural finish and unique features, even a Western acoustic guitar player can use this modern Arabic instrument to explore and delve into new sound. The KMA1 retails for 1899 AED at Virgin Megastore.

Kamal has performed alongside some of the world’s greatest musicians including Bobby McFerrin, Bob Franceschini, Randy Brecker, Ada Rovatti, Stanely Jordan, Ranjot Barot, Anne Ducros, Dwiki Dharmawan, Andy Suzuki, David Reinhardt, Jorge Pardo (Paco De Lucia Sextet), Francisco Molina and Volker Schlott, just to name a few. Having performed at international events such as Vienna Jazz Festival 2010, Cannes Film Festival 2010, Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Grand Prix, Dubai International Film Festival 2008 and many others, Kamal has been a muse to a number of influential artists and produced several CDs, his most recent album being Songs for Seung-Eun.
