The Press Officers will craft and coordinate responses to media inquiries. Related responsibilities include serving as initial point of contact for journalists; and pitching news stories. You will serve as the first point of contact for local, national and international media inquiries. Additionally you will help manage public events–generating positive media coverage and ensuring seamless event execution. Each press officer will be responsible for a portfolio of policy topics/sectors (e.g.: parliamentary affairs) and capable of translating policy into press- worthy products including press releases, talking points and official statements.
Requirements
The successful candidate is likely to have the following profile:
• At least 5 years experience responding to media requests on behalf of a national political or mass marketing campaign or for a government official. Former experience as a journalist is highly desirable.
• Strong ability to juggle multiple demands and pressing deadlines while maintaining attention to details and remaining cool-headed.
• Articulate and personable with the ability to foster good relations with members of the media and effectively pitch a story idea.
• Ability to deliver results in an environment of ambiguity and change.
• High levels of drive and enthusiasm.
• Familiarity with Kuwait media, society, politics and culture.
• Excellent written and verbal Arabic and English language skills.
• Undergraduate degree from a reputable Kuwait or foreign university, preferably in communications.
• Ideally, an advanced degree from a reputable Kuwaiti or foreign university.
• Kuwait nationality would be highly desirable.
