1. Quantity Surveyor has the responsibility for the financial and contractual control of the project.

2. Estimates and monitor construction costs, from the feasibility stage of a project through to the completion of the construction period.

3. Measure and estimate building and material costs for projects

4. QS prepares reports about projected building costs for clients

5. QS administer the tendering process for contractors and subcontractors

6. Monitor progress at construction sites and check the work is in line with budget

7. Recalculate costs if design or materials change

8. Endorse progress claims from contractors

9. Administer the payments for contractors and suppliers

10. Prepare a statement of final account recording the actual costs of the project
