The Role


Purpose of job:
To support the development of Teaching and Exams (T&E) businesses in Saudi Arabia by providing market intelligence and marketing decision support for Teaching and Exams Management.
To design and implement T&E marketing and communications plans to achieve business targets and enable the British Council to achieve its corporate goals.

Context and environment:
English Teaching and Examination Services are delivered from centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam and include English courses for the public and corporate clients, teacher training and a wide range of UK qualifications including IELTS, schools exams and professional qualifications

Main duities/responsibilities:
Market Intelligence
•Collect and report market intelligence for all T&E products on relevant aspects of the external environment in KSA including:
-PEST analysis
- SWOT analysis
- Detailed annual competitor analysis with mid-year update
- Specific market intelligence as required by T&E management
•Liaise with KSA Customer Service Manager to access and analyse current customer data
•Provide T&E managers with monthly market intelligence summary reports highlighting key elements including market changes, trends, news, threats and opportunities to inform marketing planning.

Design and implementation of marketing communications strategy:
•Prepare an annual marketing communications strategy with a quarterly update to support T&E business plans in agreement with T&E managers
•Provide T&E managers with detailed integrated marketing communications plans including objectives, messages, channels, costs, implementation plans and evaluation criteria.
•Implement T&E marketing communications plans in liaison with internal BC KSA, MENA and UK MARCOMMS teams, external suppliers and partner organisations.
•Evaluation of marketing communications plans against criteria agreed with T&E management
•Provide T&E managers with a monthly update on progress of marketing communications plans
•Update marketing communication plans on a quarterly basis with the agreement of T&E managers
•Ensure that marketing planning includes a comprehensive digital strategy

Manage T&E customer information provision:
•Ensure all T&E print and digital information is designed, produced to BC and partner standards and is consistent across all KSA centres and products
•Liaise with KSA Customer Service Manager and product managers to plan customer information requirements throughout the year

Key relationships: (include internal and external)
Internal:
•T&E Management: Teaching Centre Managers and deputies, Regional Exams Business Manager and Deputy, Examination Services Managers, Exams Product Managers and product teams.
•Customer Service: KSA Customer Service Manager, Centre Customer Service Manager and teams, KSA PR Manager
•MARCOMMS: MENA regional and UK MARCOMMS teams

External:
•UK awarding bodies and other T&E business partners
•Suppliers e.g. designers, printers, advertising agencies

Other important features or requirements of the job
(e.g. travel, unsocial/evening hours, restrictions on employment etc)
-Regular travel within KSA
-occasional travel to regional meetings
-Valid resident permit for Saudi Arabia (Iqama)
-Child Protection checks/declaration
-Reference checks

Skills & Knowledge (essential)
Business Management and development (Level 2)
•Marketing & customer service (Level 3)

•English language: minimum IELTS 6.5 equivalent

Skills & knowledge (desirable)
•Written and spoken Arabic

Experience (essential):
-Minimum of 3 years experience at management level involving a significant degree of marketing.
- Evidence of success in developing and implementing marketing communications strategies.

Experience(desirable):
-Management experience in an agency environment, with a combination of marketing, branding, and public relations
-Experience writing press releases and PR planning, track record of getting media exposure
-Experience working in the English language testing marketplace

Qualifications(essential):
-Minimum degree level qualification
-Marketing qualification

Qualifications (desirable):
-Master’s level business qualification
