News — By Samer Marzouq on July 16, 2010 at 8:01 pmThe Admissions Office at the American University in Dubai (AUD) received the applications of one hundred prospective students, of the upcoming academic year 2010/2011, for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarship Program, in the academic disciplines offered within its School of Engineering and the program of Fine Arts at its Visual Communication Department. The application deadline was on Thursday, the 15th of July, 2010.
Scholarships bestowed by His Highness, at AUD, also constitute the backbone of the University’s Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication (MBRSC) Scholarship Program, the application deadline of which, for the upcoming academic year, falls on the 25th of July, 2010. As for the announcement of the names of student beneficiaries, it is scheduled for the end of July of 2010. Such scholarship program caters to the educational needs of crème of the crop students from across the GCC and Middle East regions.
Mr. Elias Bou Saab, AUD’s Executive Vice President, asserts that the School’s academic distinction lies in the special directives given by His Highness to the University’s Administration in terms of those scholarships, thus setting high academic standards for student applicants to match and exceed, as he notes:
“The competitive academic competence potential student beneficiaries have displayed, to be eligible for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Scholarships, has raised the bar in terms of the unsurpassed quality of education the School offers, in its curriculum, which was developed in collaboration with the University of Southern California, alongside utilizing state-of-the-art laboratories and the employment of professional and resourceful faculty members of a distinctive caliber, therefore constituting the cornerstone for the educational excellence the School has earned since its inception two years ago.” “The objective behind providing such scholarships is to attract distinguished students, and thus refine the academic recognition AUD has obtained and maintained throughout the years since its inauguration in 1995,” he concludes.
With the wide range of media studies the School offers, within the diverse fields of Journalism, Radio/TV/Cinema Studies and New Media sub-disciplines, students are currently in the process of establishing an electronic newsletter, and editing news stories for, and contributing to the multimedia requirements of, private and governmental renowned media corporations. Such curriculum requirements highlight the superb quality of education the School upholds.
Pursuant to the above, the AUD Governing Board had approved in its last meeting the University’s Annual Budget 2010-2011, with Dhs15m in academic, departmental and athletic scholarships, to be granted to outstanding students.
