Judges Select 16 Young Arab innovators Amid Tough Competition
Doha, 30 September 2012: Unique docu-reality TV show Stars of Science has announced this season’s 16 candidates who will proceed to the next round in Episode 3, aired on MBC4.
The Jury selection, which follows an eight-week casting tour, has identified the 16 candidates to take part in the ‘proof of concept’ stage, where the young innovators will be asked to scientifically validate their ideas by proving that their concept can be successfully created and made operational within a three-month timeframe.

The 16 candidates are:

- Khaled Eid – 3D Holographic Screen- KUWAIT
- Khalid Aboujassoum – Automated Home Cooking Pot- QATAR
- Mahmoud Shattel – Efficient Vertical Wind Turbine – JORDAN
- Mohammed Eliyan – Mobile Phone Based Diabetes Smart Exhale Test –JORDAN
- Mohammed Watfa – Virtual Desktop Computer- LEBANON
- Nadi Chemali – Stairs Movement Smart Music Composer – LEBANON
- Saud El Shammari – Mechanical shoes for orthopedic patient – KSA
- Wael Hasan – Arabic programming language – EGYPT
- Yousef Al Hashash – Housing Architecture CAD Practical User Interface- KSA
Now in its 4th season, Stars of Science was initiated by Qatar Foundation and focuses on discovering and nurturing innovation in science and technology among Arab youth.
Stars of Science Season Four consists of eight prime-time episodes, plus a live finale where the public will be invited to vote alongside the Jury. Episode 4 will be shown on Thursday 4th October (8:00PM KSA), with daily updates from 6th October (5:00 KSA) on MBC4, building up to the live finale on November 8th 2012. The program is hosted by Khaled Jumaily for a fourth season.

About Stars of Science
Stars of Science is an original TV format, initiated by Qatar Foundation, which has been broadcast on over 17 TV channels throughout the Arab world. Currently in its fourth season, Stars of Science supports 16 young innovators who have an idea based on a novel scientific feature. Each project is developed for commercialization through several stages of the innovation cycle which includes proof of concept, engineering prototyping, design production and business feasibility.
The four finalists are ranked by a jury and viewers in a live show in which the winning products are launched. The finalists receive a total cash prize of $600,000 to help them develop their product further.
