-Invited Guests and Media Enjoyed a Spectacular Thai Evening at Dusit Thani, Dubai-
(Dubai 3rd June 2012) The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) last night Saturday 2nd June 2012 hosted a special Thai evening at the Dusit Thani, Dubai to launch the “Amazing Taste of Thailand Festival 2012”. The month long festival begins on 8th June until 7th July 2012,during which time diners at 13-participating restaurants will have the opportunity to win gift vouchers and a number of exciting prizes including a trip to Bangkok with Thai Airways. For every AED200/- spent at a participating restaurant, diners will automatically be entered into the prize draw which also includes a three-night stay at the Dusit Thani, Bangkok, a half-day cooking class and dinner for two at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Benjarong.

“The Amazing Taste of Thailand” launch event was co-hosted by the Dusit Thani, Dubai and Thai Airways and began with a welcome speech from H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Mr. Wisoot Buachoom, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (Dubai and Middle East Office). There was also two performances of traditional Thai dancing, fruit carving demonstrations and live cooking stalls where the 13- participating restaurants show cased their individual specialist Thai cuisine. The restaurants participating in the “Amazing Taste of Thailand Food Fest 2012” include Benjarong, Blue Elephant, Pai Thai, Sukhothai, Spice Emporium, Ban Khun Mae, The Kitchen of Thai, Shang Thai, Thai Chi, The Royal Buddha, Chimes, The Thai Kitchen in Dubai and the Taste Restaurant in Fujairah.
Speaking about the Thai Food Festival, Mr. Wisoot Buachoom said: “The Amazing Taste of Thailand Food Festival 2012 is a great opportunity for UAE residents and visitors to enjoy world-renowned Thai cuisine as well as win lots of prizes. The ‘Thainess’, which is at the heart of Thai hospitality permeates across all of Thailand, from our amazing beaches and natural environment to our culinary expertise. Thai cuisine is a key element of ‘Amazing Thailand’ and the ingredients used, the various herbs and spices together with cooking methods is all part of the essence of Thailand”.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was established on the 18th March 1960. TAT was the first organization in Thailand to be specifically responsible for the promotion of tourism. TAT supplies information and data on tourist areas to the public, publicizes Thailand with the intention of encouraging both Thai and international tourists to travel in and around Thailand, conducts studies to set development plans for tourist destinations, and co-operates with and supports the production and development of personnel in the field of tourism. Since the inception of the first local office of TAT in Chiang Mai in 1968, there are now 35 regional offices throughout Thailand.
