- Two Chevrolet Captiva cars and thousands of other prizes – including TVs, tablets, smart phones, and cameras – claimed by UAE residents who ‘dipped and won’ with Lipton Yellow Label and Clear Green teabags
- Hundreds more prizes still waiting to be claimed!
Dubai, 6 December 2012: Two UAE residents got a lot more than they bargained for with their morning cup of tea. Pascal Albert Vetus and Abdul Rahman Ahmad Abdulhadi, based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively, each won a Chevrolet Captiva. The prizes are two of the 12 brand-new cars being given away in the GCC by Lipton, Unilever’s leading tea brand, in its second annual ‘Dip and Win’ campaign.

“I couldn’t believe when I saw the teabag I dipped and it showed that I had won a car! I never thought that something regular and ordinary as drinking tea would bring me so much excitement and happiness. Truly, fortune and blessings come when you least expect them. Thanks to Lipton for this unexpected gift,” said Pascual Vetus who has been living in the Dubai for the past three years working as a construction superintendent in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

On special Dip & Win branded packs of Lipton Yellow Label and, new for 2012, Lipton Clear Green tea, tea-lovers have a chance to win when they dip their teabags into a cup of hot water. Special teabag technology instantly reveals images on the teabags to let consumers know what they have won.
“My wife carefully woke me up one day saying there’s something she has to tell me. She said we won a car. It took a couple of seconds more before it finally hit me and I was really happy. One of those few times you wake up with a nice surprise! To think I never win anything in my life! My wife and I are very excited with our new car and we thank Lipton for this,” said Abdhul Rahman, an electrical engineer who resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and baby boy.
The campaign, which ran across the GCC, was bigger in its second year, with prizes including 12 Chevrolet Captiva cars, TVs, tablets, smartphones, cameras, mp3s and more.
Toufik Chadli, Unilever Marketing Manager, Beverages, Lower Gulf, said: “Lipton tea drinkers should pay close attention if they are using tea bags from branded Dip & Win packs, as there are still hundreds of prizes yet to be claimed. The campaign has been a great success allowing us to connect with our customers in a fun and engaging way. The suspense of seeing what will appear in the individual teabags provides a sense of eager anticipation among our loyal customers. With this campaign, Lipton did not just bring goodness and health benefits of tea to consumers but brightened their day as well.
For the first time, Lipton used augmented reality technology in the Gulf. The Dip & Win app is activated when a tablet or smart phone with the app is focused on branded Dip & Win packs. The Dip & Win app game involves trying to dip falling teabags into a virtual cup, with additional prizes of consumer electronics awarded for the highest scorers each week. The ‘Lipton DipNWin’ game for iOS and Android based smart phones and tablets can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, and from Google Play.
