CN-Arabic

Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) is celebrating the one-year anniversary of Cartoon Network Arabic (CNA). Over the past year, the Arabic free-to-air channel has demonstrated rapid growth in the region through the launch of various international franchises dubbed into Arabic and local productions following the launch of its commercial office in Dubai.

In addition CNA has launched Cartoon Network Studios Arabia aiming to produce world-class Arabic influenced children’s content.

Since its launch on October 10th 2010, CNA has broadcasted completely in Arabic across the MENA region and featured the most popular children’s shows, including Ben 10, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, Generator Rex, Adventure Time, The Smurfs and the very popular locally produced show Skatoony.

The channel is consistently adding new shows to its mix in line with its commitment to provide quality kids entertainment in Arabic. Such recent launches include the award winning cartoon series “The Amazing World of Gumball” and the pre-school block “Cartoonito” with animated TV shows such as Bananas in Pyjamas and Jelly Jamm.

TBS Arabia has also opened an animation development studio, Cartoon Network Studios Arabia, as part of the agreement signed with Twofour54 Abu Dhabi. The studios aim to create memorable shows and build brands of equal caliber to Cartoon Network’s global hits such as Ben 10 or Powerpuff Girls, inspired by Middle Eastern culture. In addition, the world’s first Cartoon Network Animation Academy (CNAA), located at Twofour54 tadreeb, celebrated last month the graduation for the Animation Production class of 2010/11 in line with the company’s efforts in supporting local talent.

“Reflecting back over the past year, we have achieved a great deal of success, however our aim is to accomplish a lot more,” said Alan Musa, vice president and general manager, Middle East and Africa. “The channel has found its place within the kids entertainment space in the region which can be seen through the positive feedback received on our digital and social media platforms.”

“Moving forward, we will continue to provide high-quality entertainment and maintain our strategy to broaden our partnerships from a commercial and content perspective.” Musa added.

TBS’s continues their efforts in reaching out to children across the region publicizing and marketing Cartoon Network Arabic through various communication channels such as print, broadcast and online. In addition to traditional media, community campaigns are being carried out throughout the region to raise awareness among the targeted audience and educate them about the CNA’s shows.
