The Porsche Experience on Yas Marina Circuit
So there I was, a middle aged guy driving a fleet of Porsches on a Formula 1 track, yes a fleet! “What might go wrong?” you may ask, well, nothing, it’s just the aftermath!
Last week I was invited to the Porsche World Roadshow on Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhbai, thanks to my bank Emirates NBD! This roadshow takes place in different cities across the world including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and it’s an opportunity for non Porsche drivers to experience the car, and perhaps buy one later, and I guess that’s the main purpose, of course it was a little nice treat from my bank, and I loved it!
The experience was really great, the only downside about it is the speed limit, see you are driving very powerful cars on an F1 track so you start picturing yourself as The Stig, sliding through corners, speeding to levels that you’ve never experienced before, but for safety purposes, we were asked to hold our horses. Anyway I managed to have fun more than the rest of guests.
Everybody gathered in teams of 2, expect of me, luckily the number of guest was odd, so I drove the cars twice as much as anybody else, and to enjoy it more, I would slowdown every now and then to have the chance to accelerate, that’s what racing is all about, isn’t it!
The cars included 911s, Boxster, Cayennes and Panameras. For some reason I enjoyed the Boxster the most, all other cares were impressive for sure, but the way the Boxster rolled on the track was amazing! I just want to thank Emirates NBD for a lovely experience, and now I just need to adapt to my car and my normal everyday streets, it’s not easy!
