Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16 Feb 2014: dubizzle released its Automotive Report showcasing trends in the UAE used cars market for 2013. The report covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the emirates – with the large amount of data accumulated on dubizzle, each yeah the report showcases insights and trends with the public on the price changes and demand in mentioned sector.

Nissan Tiida was noted as being one of the top 10 searched used cars brands on dubizzle in 2013, selling with an average millage of 113,318 km for AED 25K. With Japanese cars known to have a good resale value and be relatively economical compared to other makes, brands that were most sought after were in fact of Japanese origin, the other top spot contenders being Nissan, Honda, and Toyota.

The resale values of these mid-ranged used cars were quoted between AED 25K to 45K including the Honda Civic 2008 model at AED 31K, the Nissan Altima 2008 model at AED 34K, and the Toyota Camry 2009 model at AED 43K. The highest priced vehicle in the top 10 were the 2008 model Land Cruisers that were advertised for an approximate value of AED 129K.

It was also identified that the top 10 car brands looked for on dubizzle in 2013 were of models made in 2006, 2007 and 2008, showing that used car buyers view model options that are roughly 7 to 9 years old as they prove to be a better bargain.

“It’s very clear that the UAE’s automotive industry is one of the most vibrant in the region, and with record sales that have been reported by national franchises in the UAE, I think it’s safe to assume that prices of used cars in the UAE are likely to go down this first quarter of 2014 with the influx of trade ins made,” explained Tariq Seksek, Motors Product Manager at dubizzle.

The automotive industry in the UAE is one of the most lucrative. With that said, the used car market is directly affected as more residents tend to sell off their cars to purchase a new vehicle more often than in most other countries. As car loans are readily available for new car purchases and the fact that vehicles prices are not inflated by heavy taxes, making the decision to sell an older car after a couple of years of wear and tear seems viable when in the need for a change or an upgrade.

51 million visits were recorded in 2013 to dubizzle’s motors section, that’s 62% of the record high 83 million in passenger traffic that passed through the Abu Dhabi and Dubai airport hubs last year.
