Dubizzle.com ‘s founders will share their experience and their business success story, at a seminar organized by Tamakkan, on 14 December at Al Mamoura Auditorium on Muroor Road.

The upcoming seminar will focus on how businesses can achieve commercial success online. Sim Whately and JC Butler, the founders of Dubizzle.com will share their experiences, and the issues and challenges they had to deal with to launch their site and grow their business. They set up the company in August 2005 with about $12,000 and are now in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with planned launches in other cities of the Middle East.

The second presentation is by Faras Darweesh, the CTO of QPassion Technology, who will uncover the mysteries of cloud computing and virtualisation, and demonstrate the opportunities presented by web 3.0 to entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Tamakkan, an entrepreneurship and innovation organization, is a grass-roots initiative aimed at providing insight, inspiration and networking support to entrepreneurs and innovators. It was launched by BrandMoxie and is supported by a network of public and private enterprises in the UAE, with sponsorship from Aldar, John Buck International, BrandMoxie, Jones the Grocer, and Dots and Coms.

“We hope the two presentations will inspire business owners and SMEs to recognize the incredible new perspectives offered by the internet, and how to exploit powerful applications and strategies to take their businesses to the next level and to compete with well established entities,” said Sana Bagersh, CEO of BrandMoxie, and founder of Tamakkan.

Tamakkan increased its focus in its last few seminars on social media and internet marketing because of the strong interest from business owners and corporates eager to learn from successful practitioners, she said.

The seminar offers opportunities for entrepreneurs to ask the panel of experts questions, and to share ideas and information with their peers.

Tamakkan is founded on the belief that people and companies will want to share their knowledge with others, in the spirit of community engagement and social responsibility. The intention is that the knowledge transfer platform would invariably create a support environment that fosters greater creativity and innovation, while also promoting the principles of best practice in business, said Bagersh.
