Front Page Editor
Location: Dubai
Reporting to: Chief Editor – Yahoo! Maktoob English
Responsibilities:
- Working with the editorial team on updating Yahoo! Maktoob English front page with fresh, compelling and relevant content
- Maintaining events diary and planning and executing event programming in consultation with producers and editors
- Crafting appealing headlines and teaser copy, choosing and preparing appropriate imagery
- Understanding the Yahoo! audience, and its interests, and feeding these back into product plans and tactics
- Providing editorial support where required, particularly on ancillary or support service pages and instructional content
- Contributing ideas to the content and product development process
Requirements:
- A solid grounding in basic principles of writing for the Web and editing experience in a dynamic online editorial environment (2 years of experience)
- An understanding of editorial best practices and priorities
- A keen interest in news, entertainment and popular culture in general
- Demonstrable headline writing, image selection and content packaging skills
- University degree or equivalent required
- Language skills: Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
- Strong Communication skills.
