Month of December dedicated to the brightest #MTVstars with international on air and online campaign

Dubai, UAE – November 27th 2013 – MTV has launched an exciting new international music programming initiative, “MTV’s Stars of 2013.” Across MTV channels and online platforms outside the U.S., the month of December will be dedicated to celebrating the brightest music stars of 2013, with a special programming line-up featuring brand new concert performances from today’s hottest artists, new music specials, plus the #MTVStars social campaign.

Every Friday night throughout December, “MTV’s Stars of 2013” will provide fans around the world with exclusive access to the biggest names in music through the renowned live music franchise MTV World Stage, including new editions featuring Nirvana and The Killers, and music programs such as the extended deluxe edition of tell-all documentary “Miley: The Movement.” The month will be crowned with MTV’s official countdown special, “MTV’s Biggest Music Moments of 2013”, revisiting the year’s most talked about music moments.

Since November 16th, MTV has given fans the chance to have their say and vote for the best and biggest musical acts of the year with the #MTVstars social campaign. Throughout the month-long activation, music fans can cast their vote via Twitter using the name of their favourite artist and the hashtag #MTVstars, which is already trending worldwide, generating millions of votes. Tweet votes will be counted on a central leaderboard at and updated in real time, with the results being announced on-air and online in late December, crowning the artist with the most votes the hottest music superstar of 2013.
