Samsung Launches Bada 2.0 Applications “Power App Race” Competition

Amman, Jordan-(October 2011) – Celebrating the launch of Bada 2.0, Samsung Electronics announced the World Applications Developers Competition powered by Bada 2.0 system for the popular Samsung Wave Mobiles.

Aiming to encourage mobile application developers to learn more about Samsung’s new Bada 2.0 platform and discover its advantages. The competition will honor the top ten applications, five of which are games and the other five are applications that received the most downloads.

With a total amount of three hundred thousand dollars in prizes, the top ten developers with more than hundred thousand downloads from the Samsung store will receive a hundred thousand dollars in cash. The winner with the most downloads will be awarded a benefits partnership program from Bada, a promotional campaign for his application from Samsung App store and receive the title of “Power App”.

Starting on October 13th 2011, online registration for the competition has commenced on Samsung’s Bada 2.0 page developer.bada.com and shall commence until December 31st of the same year.

Expressing his enthusiasm towards the competition, Mr. Shaher Dasouki, head of Mobile Phones Department at Samsung Levant, said, “It is imperative to understand the needs and expectations of mobile application developers, in order to promote a smart life for all users. As these developers are the ones who guide us, and it is time for us to embrace their creations and creativity.” He also added, “We at Samsung, value the developers’ creations who continuously work to enrich Samsung mobile users lives with smart applications.”
It is worth mentioning, the Bada 2.0 system was revealed during the Mobile World Congress in February of 2011. The Bada 2.0 platform includes a number of new capabilities such as; multi-tasking, Wi-Fi Direct, Near Field Communication (NFC) and voice recognition. In addition to enabling the end user with advanced experiences such as; pay by phone, transport pass-card recharge and file sharing without Internet networking.

The Bada 2.0 platform also supports HTML5 and flash advanced functions, which allows for an enhanced internet usage. And with the support of WAC 2.0, Bada aims to expand the application developers’ community.
