25th February 2014, Dubai: In the lead up to the FIFA World Cup 2014, event sponsor Sony Mobile Communications (Sony Mobile) hosted the media for an Xperia League football tournament on the 13th of February.
More than 18 members of the media attended the event and fought for their chance to Brazil to watch the FIFA World Cup taking place last year. The 3on3 teams were named after Sony Mobile’s selection of smartphones available, including the recently announced Xperia Z1 Compact.
The Xperia Z team won the battle against the rest of the competition, with each team member receiving a single package to Brazil. The team consisted of UAE as well as KSA based journalists. A fourth pair package was won in an individual challenge. The team members that placed 2nd and 3rd each won a new Xperia Z1 Compact.
