Top 10 Finalists for Kit Kat Comedy Break Competition Announced
- More than 115 entries from 13 countries submitted
- Entries judged by four world-class comedians Tony Abou Jaoude, Ali Al Sayed, Shaima Al Sayed and Fahad Albutairi
- $40,000 in prizes up for grabs as KIT KAT searches for the funniest Arab Comedian
Dubai, 14 April 2013: KIT KAT has selected its top 10 finalists who will compete to be the next big Arab comedian. More than 115 entries were received over five weeks from 13 countries. Entries were judged by four renowned Arab comedians Tony Abou Jaoude, Ali Al Sayed, Shaima Al Sayed and Fahad Albutairi.
Competing for the top three places in the KIT KAT Comedy Break contest are George and Stephanie Ghalbouni from Lebanon; Rami Boraie, Mohamed Morgan and Ahmed Khattri and Ahmed Gamal from Egypt; Shady Salah from Jordan; Sheida Seddiq from UAE; Thamer Almeshari from Saudi and Waddah Swar from Bahrain.
The first prize is $15,000 cash and the opportunity to be the opening act for Fahad Albutairi. The second prize is no laughing matter either with a cash prize of $10,000 and third prize of $5,000. Along with the top three winners, the public will get to vote for their favourite comedian who will win $2,500.
Commenting on the overall response and creativity of entrants, Remy Ejel – Business Executive Manager Confectionary at Nestlé Middle East, said: “The KIT KAT Comedy Break Show was launched with the objective to provide a platform for the Arab world’s aspiring comedians. The entries that we have received hold great promise and we are excited to have created a programme that really encourages talent and creativity.”
The finalists will now proceed to the second and final round where they will reside in the KIT KAT Comedy Break Villa in Dubai and compete against each other in head-to-head challenges.
Throughout the competition, the judges will rank the best contestants, coach them, and help them improve their stand-up routines. Footage of the challenges captured by the KIT KAT Comedy Break filming cast will begin on May 5th and run until June 5th, with new episodes uploaded every Sunday and Wednesday.
