Cavalli Club, Restaurant & Lounge’s Deyan Gjorgjiev to represent the UAE at the World’s Habanos Sommelier Competition
Dubai, UAE – December 20, 2012: Cavalli Club, Restaurant & Lounge, the ultimate destination for style and entertainment in Dubai is proud to announce that Deyan Gjorgjiev, Head Bartender, has been nominated as the official UAE representative to compete at the World Habanos Sommelier Competition. The competition will be held in Habana, Cuba in February 2013 as part of the 15th Habanos Festival. Deyan was the finalist chosen amongst other highly recognized contestants in the preliminary and the final rounds of the 2012 UAE Habanos Sommelier Competition held at the Fairmont Hotel, Dubai in November 2012.
The competition was judged by the experts from the field including Rajan Rengasamy (winner of 2010 & 2011 Habanos Sommelier Competition – UAE), Luis Garcia U (World Champion of Habanos Sommelier Competition 2012 Habana-Cuba), Saad Abdul Rahman Al Beiruti (over 25 years of experience as a Habanos connoisseur) and Amjad Z. Ibrahim with over 15 years as a connoisseur, a carefully chosen group of judges based on their passion, skills and knowledge of Habanos.

The Habanos sommelier has to bring with him a broad knowledge of every possible combination of the best foods, wines and spirits with cigars. Now Deyan needs to prepare intensively to work his magic at this international competition in high hopes of winning the crown, not just for himself but for the UAE and his Cavalli Club family.
