Our client, a specialized government agency, is mandated to provide strategic policy advice to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi across all portfolios of Government in Abu Dhabi, and facilitate greater coordination in the development and implementation of policy in the Emirate.
As a result of winning a successful bid, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will be host to one of the globes most watched international sporting events in 2009 and 2010. Our client has the end to end responsibility of developing and managing this tournament, which will continue to position the city of Abu Dhabi as one of the world’s most exciting international sports destinations and promote sports tourism to the region.
Reporting to the Communications Director, your responsibilities will include:
• Implementing a communications outreach campaign to drive awareness of the Tournament at a local, regional and international level
• Developing campaigns designed to secure ongoing media coverage in lead-up to the tournament
• Implementing events, press conferences and announcements around the tournament
• Management of website content, incorporating copy, imagery, etc
• Writing press materials, including press releases, facts sheets and speeches
• Identifying and training spokespeople
To be successful in this role you will need:
• University Degree, preferably in the field of Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism
• Minimum 5 years experience in the public relations or media industry
• An exceptional grasp of writing press materials, including media releases and statements
• Competency in managing and nurturing strong media relationships
• Local market experience
• Arabic language capabilities a bonus
• Capacity to perform under pressure, meet multiple deadlines and maintain a large workload
• Sports-related PR experience beneficial
