Recma ranks OMD as top Emea and global media brand
News — By Samer Marzouq on August 6, 2010 at 10:15 amIn the 12th edition of the Research Company Evaluating the Media Agency Industry (Recma)’s Global Billings Report published last month, Omnicom network OMD has once again emerged as the global market leader and been named the top agency in the Emea region. It earned a similar distinction on a global level.
With billings of $27.8bn globally and $14.9bn in Emea (Recma estimates), OMD was also the fastest growing media network, as well as the leading brand in more markets than any other agency in the ranking, with double digit market share in more than 20 countries.
Furthermore, OMD stood out as being the only network in the Emea region to achieve growth in what was arguably the industry’s most challenging year in recent history.
“Complementing our top rankings in the US and Emea with our strong performance in APAC and LATAM, OMD has a singularly balanced global footprint,”
said OMD Worldwide CEO Mainardo de Nardis.
He credited the agency’s cross-market equilibrium, as well as a client roster comprised of many of the world’s most successful global brands, and the outstanding efforts of more than 8,000 talented people in 97 markets for OMD’s unique ability to achieve growth in the midst of 2009′s global economic downturn.
The July ranking follows earlier reports this year in which Recma rated OMD as the top global network across 26 countries and the top global network in terms of fully integrated digital capabilities.
“This result is a powerful independent industry endorsement of our continued success during very challenging times. It really recognizes the incredible effort and dedication of all our teams across the region and gives us extreme confidence that our product and service offering continues to be ahead of our competitors’,” commented Nikki Mendonça, President of OMD Emea. “Our focus on leveraging new technologies, garnering real time insights and 24/7 data analytics is really paying dividends. Hopefully, with the global crisis behind us, we can now go into fifth gear with our ambition to migrate our offering from media to marketing investment excellence as that is what our clients are expecting from us.”
Commenting on the results, Elie Khouri, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Mena, the holding of OMD, said that this outstanding achievement was a just reward for the network’s response to market challenges. “This independent recognition validates the strength and quality of our network and the efforts we have put in from this region to contribute and achieve this performance. To earn the position of leading agency in terms of billings once again demonstrates our clients’ trust in OMD’s ability to deliver the results they seek is indeed well placed,” he said.
