Air Quality Scientist or Senior Scientists | Qatar Foundation Doha, Qatar
Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) is looking for a Scientist or Senior Scientist to lead and supervise a program on air quality monitoring and assessment in Qatar.
Core tasks:
- Managing and leading a project on Air Quality monitoring in Doha
- Advise on Air Quality monitoring stations, and supervision of operating, maintaining, and calibration of these equipment/stations;
- Validate and analyze air quality data collected by the stations
- Publish a quarter annual report on air quality in Doha (and Qatar- long term plan)
- National air quality network design and optimization
- Air quality modeling using dispersion models and photochemical analysis models
- Developing a national emission inventory for pollutants
- Assessing regional pollutants transport in Qatar and in the Arabian Gulf region
- Contributing to assessment of the impact of air quality on human health
- Contributing to optimization of the national air quality monitoring standards
Skills
- PhD in environmental engineering, environmental science, physics or chemistry or equivalent
- At least 8 years of professional experience in ambient air quality monitoring, emission inventory compilation air shed and photochemical modeling, with expertise in air quality management protocols and strategies
- Experience in the development of criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventories
- Sufficient number of publications in refereed journals in air quality and emission inventory
- Good command both oral and written in the English language. Knowledge in Arabic language would be an asset
- Excellent analytical and leadership skills, including motivation, negotiation skills and conflict resolution
- Experience in health implications of air quality is desirable
