Purpose of job:
To contribute to the achievement of British Council objectives through effective and efficient planning, management, implementation and evaluation of British Council Services for International Marketing to include effective delivery of products, services and networks.
Context and environment:
The post holder will be part of team responsible for delivering the MEA Regional BC SIM business objectives and will be based in Saudi Arabia. They will report directly to the Regional Business Manager.
The core market for the British Council SIM MEA region, comprise of the following core countries:
Bahrain, Egypt, Ghana, Jordan (Iraq), KSA, Kuwait, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar and UAE. The post holder will be geographically responsibly for Saudi, Kuwait and Bahrain
BC SIM (Services for International Marketing) is the replacement service for Education UK Partnership (EUKP). This new business will be building upon the successful model of Education UK Partnership (EUKP) but on a cost neutral basis. Services for International marketing is based upon a regional model of delivery with clear financial and delivery targets based around the delivery of 7 core services. The post holder will be responsible for managing the 7 core services across the region, business analysis and some elements of business development. BC SIM is re-engineering the existing EUKP relationship and this post requires an ability to contribute to business planning and development in this area of work, to work across teams and demonstrate commercial skills, market understanding, an ability to develop new products and a strong client understanding.
The effective delivery of the 7 core services for this post include: Educational Intelligence, marketing briefings, consultancy, exhibitions, direct marketing and trans-national education. The post holder will not be expected to deliver all 7 services in all countries mentioned above.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Responsible for:
1. Strategy Engagement: This will entail supporting the development of the business strategy for the region for British Council Services for International marketing (BC SIM) and managing internal and external client relationships. The post-holder will report to the Regional Business Manager and will support the achievement of regional business targets.
2. Supporting and Developing the Business: The post-holder will be part of the team responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the Regional BC SIM business. This involves business development with the regional team, developing new markets and services, ensuring consistency and quality of service staff across the region.
The post-holder will be expected to support the BC team members in country. The post-holder will also need to support the work of dispersed teams, & build effective relationships with key internal stakeholders.
3. Delivery of Agreed Targets: Each region has a set of agreed business targets that contribute to the global business model. The post-holder will support the delivery of these regional targets. The high level regional targets are not negotiable but individual country targets may be amended as long as the overall targets are met. The post holder will be expected to support key deliverables in this area.
4. External/internal Client Management: The ability to mange the needs of external and internal clients is a key component of this role. The Manager will need to be able to work with Heads of International Office, Heads of FE and Boarding Schools as well as other key stakeholders in educational marketing.

Main duties will include:
1.Strategy Engagement:
•Ensuring that all key stakeholder understand and support the business strategy
•Ensuring that all BC SIM team members in country understand their role in the business strategy
2.Supporting and Developing the Business:
•Ensuring regular reviews and tracking of business development in MEA
•Supporting new market and product development for the business
•Ensuring that non performing markets are either developed, reformed or closed
4. Delivery of Agreed targets:
•Meeting agreed business targets for the region and supporting global targets for BC SIM
•Agreeing country specific and product specific targets subject to regular review
•Meeting agreed targets for corporate compliance of finance and HR
•Securing all key performance indicators as agreed each year
5. External/Internal Client Management:
•working with Saudi partnership and with UK account managers
•sustaining & managing relationships with the regional BC SIM team for impact
•Strong internal client management
•Collecting feedback from internal and external clients on delivery
6. Development of Products and Markets:
•Providing advisory, quality assurance and an editorial role for market reports across the region
•Providing advisory, quality assurance and an editorial role for face-to-face briefings across the region
•Responsible for consultancy services across the region, ensuring quality and consistency of service
•Responsible for developing exhibitions and virtual exhibitions across the region, ensuring quality and consistency of service and to help the UK HE providers in participating in local Higher Education exhibitions.
•Responsible for direct marketing services across the region, ensuring quality and consistency of service
•Responsible for developing services to agents, including agents’ training
•Geographical responsibility for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain.

1. Ministries of Higher Education, regional education organisations and relevant Non Governmental
Organisations.
2. Major public and private sector Higher Education Institutions in the UK and in the region (universities, colleges, schools). 3. Major education institutions (Further Education and Boarding Schools) and organisations in the UK with an interest in the region.
4. Potential corporate sponsors, foundations and government-funded sponsors.
Internal: 1. Regional Business Development Manager, Regional Education Director, Regional BC SIM staff, Regional Director, and Country Directors
Other important features or requirements of the job
The post holder will be expected:
1.To be flexible (working some evenings/weekends)
2.To be flexible to attend social events (evening/weekends)
3.To travel (include international and domestic flights)
4.To be legally allowed to work in Saudi Arabia with a valid resident permit
5.To be able to have his/her sponsorship transferred to the British Council (for non-saudi’s)
