Toshiba Excite AT270 & AT300 Review
To tablet or not to tablet? This is the question, at least the question I ask myself all the time! Personally nothing compares to my laptop, yes smartphones and tablets are useful in many cases but I’m bit classic when it comes to accessing the internet, however, the more I swipe my fingers on devices the more I like them.
Today I look at 2 tablets from Toshiba, the 7.7 inch AT270 and the 10.1 inch AT300, both devices are powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad core processor and operate on Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Camera
Both AT270 and AT300 are equipped with 2 cameras, on the front you have a 2 megapixel camera, while on the back you have a 5 megapixel, you can shot both videos and stills, as well as panoramic shots automatically. With the camera you can change the scene and few attributes like exposure and white balance.
Skitch
This is a fun app that comes on board the Toshiba tablets, it allows you to draw and write on your images, whether you shot these images using the tablet’s camera or a random image you have on an online or offline gallery. You can draw arrows and write stuff with your handwriting or through the text editor.
You can select an object that drew on the image and change its size, direction, etc. Like the pink arrow in the above picture.
IOs
The AT300 comes with a built-in SD Card reader, a USB and an HDMI input, in addition to 2 speakers at the bottom, a mic and a headset input of course. The AT270 comes with a built-in micro SD Card reader and USB input without the HDMI input, in addition to the above mentioned IOs for the AT 300.
Facebook
Facebook looks really good on both tablets, specially the AT300, whether if you hold the tablet vertically or horizontally it looks good, this is one of the things about tablets that I like more than computers, browsing through Facebook on tablets is more enjoyable than computers!
Office
Both the AT270 and AT300 come with the ThinkFree Office, the bundle includes document editor Write, spreadsheet app Calc, presentation app Show, the PrinterShare app, the remote PC desktop controller Splashtop Remote HD Free, and finally the Calendar. The office apps on the devices allow to create and edit files; documents, excel sheets and powerpoints, and thanks to the PinterShare app you can print your files whether they were available on the device or on the web; email, Google docs….
Both the AT270 and AT300 are a good choice if you are looking for a good tablet that combines good hardware with excellent operating system, the camera is not the greatest though but other features in the devices are really cool!
